Good Productions Practices

Honey has antibacterial properties and is a very safe food. Canadian honey is produced using very high standards of practice. From apiary to honey extraction facility, beekeepers follow management plans that ensure safety and traceability.
The Canadian Honey Council has prepared a good production practices manual for beekeepers. It is currently being review by food safety experts and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. After it has received accreditation by the CFIA for technical merit, the manual will be made available on this site.
